Data & Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer

We're looking for a skilled and reliable engineer with at least 4 years of experience in data analysis and processing, business reporting, and building visual dashboards, with a particular focus on Metabase. You'll work on international legal-tech projects, collaborating closely with our engineering team and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, process, and interpret data
  • Prepare business reports and analytical overviews
  • Build, customize, and maintain dashboards in Metabase
  • Work with relational databases and large volumes of data
  • Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries
  • Integrate systems with DigitalOcean cloud infrastructure
  • Administer and maintain virtual machines in cloud environments
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and software bugs
  • Collaborate with the engineering team and clients to define reporting and data visualization requirements
  • Take on other work across data analytics, business intelligence, and software engineering

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in data analysis, business reporting, and BI development
  • At least a bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, or another relevant technical field
  • Hands-on experience working with Metabase
  • Hands-on experience with LawRuler (legal CRM and client intake platform) and reporting on its data
  • Experience with embedded Metabase in multi-tenant environments — row-level permissions and per-client sandboxing
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and databases
  • Experience working with large datasets
  • Understanding of software engineering principles and strong technical problem-solving skills
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably DigitalOcean
  • Experience maintaining virtual machines and cloud environments
  • Working proficiency in English
  • Ability to work independently, think analytically, and communicate effectively with international clients and teammates
  • Preferred: experience building and maintaining complex Metabase dashboards
  • Preferred: experience with integrations between databases, applications, and cloud infrastructure
  • Preferred: broad understanding of how different parts of software systems fit together
  • Preferred: experience working in an international, distributed team
